The OEM LED TV RFQ Checklist Buyers Actually Use

What to confirm before a sample becomes a production order.

The awkward part of an OEM TV purchase is rarely finding a screen size. It is discovering later that the quoted model did not include the plug, tuner, software, carton, or accessory set that the buyer had in mind. By then, the sample may already be on the way and the launch schedule may already be tight.

A useful request for quotation prevents that mismatch. It tells the supplier what the product has to do, where it will be sold, how it should be packed, and which details are still open. The result is usually a more useful conversation than a long list of model names followed by a single unit price.

Start With the Market Rather Than the Screen Size

A 43 inch television for a retail shelf and a 43 inch display for a hotel project can be very different purchases. Before asking for a model list, record the destination market, power and plug requirements, language needs, broadcast or input requirements, preferred operating system, sales channel, and any energy or documentation requirements that apply.

The sales channel changes the brief. A retailer may care about appearance, packaging, smart functions, and a simple setup. This is where apparently cheap quotations often stop being comparable. Packaging, accessories, document preparation, rework, and after-sales handling can all move outside the headline price. The quotation does not need to be elaborate; it does need to make its assumptions visible.

Ask Quality Questions Before Negotiating the Final Price

“Strict quality control” is not a useful answer on its own. Ask which checks are performed and what record can be provided for the proposed configuration. The list may include incoming components, assembly, display performance, audio, ports, remote control, software functions, aging or run-in tests, appearance, carton inspection, and pre-shipment sampling.

Request a Technical Table Instead of a Brochure

A brochure is made to present a product. An RFQ is meant to expose differences. Ask the supplier to show the fields that affect the buying decision:

  • Panel type, screen size, aspect ratio, and resolution
  • Brightness, contrast, viewing angle, and response time where applicable
  • Operating system, memory, wireless functions, and supported applications where applicable
  • Input and output ports, tuner standard, audio output, and power requirements
  • Dimensions, net weight, gross weight, carton size, and mounting information
  • Accessories, packaging configuration, warranty terms, and documentation

If a field is missing from the current product information, mark it as pending confirmation. That is more professional than filling the gap with a guess, and it gives the supplier a clear question to answer.
